White stem on Clematis plug

Good morning all,

I have recently planted a Clematis f(Rose De Leon) rom a plug purchased at a big box store.

It is growing well, but the first two inches of stem is white, and has a few darker brown spots.

Should I cover this with compost?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Brian

  • Thank you kindly for the response Tetley.

It is in fact growing in a small pot, and under a grow light.

I will layer some compost over the exposed white part of the stem.

I am aware that your group is UK based, and do appreciate the inclusion.

    Thanks again.
