Screening advice
Hi, I was hoping someone may be able to recommend some small trees/bushes that would provide screening in a relatively small garden.
we have a new build, typical overlooked situation. Garden is approx 30ft x 30ft and not the greatest of soil (clay), not south facing either so only sun really evening times.
I obviously don't want to annoy my neighbours but would like to create a little privacy with some easily managed plants. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Hi thank you for the reply, will buy a soil tester . Father in law believes ground is alkaline. Not the best either as typical 'new build' level the area out and turf!
The standard "boring choice" would probably be Portuguese laurel, can grow quite high but can also be clipped into a hedge or whatever size you want it to be really. You could use one of those trellis extensions on the fence to plant some climbers up. There are also bamboos (as long as they are clump forming, but still may need to be managed). You could look around at different shrubs and look at their final growing heights, although, unless you buy already large plants, which would likely be expensive, you may have to wait for things to grow.
