Container grown red onions.

I'm going to put some red onions in containers, would it be alright to use ordinary compost for this, any advice appreciated.

yeah they should be fine, just make sure you don't let them dry out, you might also want to give them a little bit of a feed in early May time just to give them a help to grow nice and big
