Briggs exhaust valve

Hi all

I have a briggs classic 3.5. I have reseater the valves as It felt like the valve wasn't been caught by the decompressor. I checked gap and all good. On re assemble it pulled better but not perfect. It did start but stopped after a min or so. Now it's gt kick back again. Flywheel key fine and carb diaphram changed. Should I fit a new valve? Or any ideas please.

When the engine is pulled over very slowly can you see the exhaust valve move fractionely as if the decompresor is working ok, also is there excessive sideway movement in the valve guide?

  • Yes you can see slight movement in the valve. But can you explain a bit more about the valve guide side way movement please.?
