Daphne adora

can anyone tell me what is eating the tips and making holes in the leaves of Daphne adore which  is just about to flower surely the ane no vine weavels   about in February image  thanks jb

  • Unfortunately, adult vine weevils do survive the winter and are often found under pots at this time of the year.  Whether they are the culprit is difficult to say without a photo but if there are notches eaten from the edges of the leaves rather than holes in the middle then weevils are the likely cause.

    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    Daphné may be an "adorable" plant indeed, but it's mostly appreciated for its pleasant scent. So it's Daphne odora, not "adora" or "adore".image

    Thanks for the replies the shrub itself is in a pot lifted of the ground . I have had weevil problems before with Lilly's there is no sign of creepy crawlies any where, there are small holes in the leaves as well as eaten outer edge, the only leaves that are damaged are right at the top of the plant none lower down . but I will clean under pots and hope for the best  again thanks for the reply   jbimage
