vine weevils.
I have been reading on other threads about the fight against vine weevils and their grubs. They are the bane of my life. Who has any experience of using using Jeyes Fluid and how effective is it.

I wouldn't use jeyes fluid near any plant unless I wanted it dead.
Same here Hosta.
Ive used nematodes and found them very effective.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Thanks for that. I am wanting to apply something to a considerable area as it is the plantings for 'in bloom'. We keep getting outbreaks of vine weevils.
Yes, I do understand that nematodes can be very effective, but this treatment would be very expensive. Others advise me to use Jeyes Fluid. There is quite a long thread on the 'Jeyes Fluid' site. Unfortunately the advice given is quite at variance.
Is your opinion from hearsay or experience?
I have watered it onto overwintering begonia corms in my greenhouse and they are still shooting away quite happily.I am talking about several hundred corms. Unfortunately many of the plants in outdoor troughs and tubs have had their roots eaten.
