DIY Heated propagator help.
Hi all,
I'm a not very practical woman so wanting to create a large heated propagator without a tonne of woodwork involved.
I have seen heated reptile vivarium mats for sale on Amazon,
28cm x 80cm for £19.99.
Just wondered if gardening folks have used these plastic reptile heat mats for this purpose with success?.
Thanks all.
Steph

Why not buy a 'heated propagation mat' that's designed for the purpose - just google, there are plenty available.
Ideally a soil warming cable and a thermostat is the best way, but that may not be your plan.

Or buy a heated propagator - I've just bought a Vitopod

No! may sound weird, but in the pass when I've sown seeds that have required heat I've used ( with great success may I add) the good old faithful.........hot water bottle!
I fill a bottle up with really hot water and then place newspapers on top before placing the lidded seed tray on it. May need topping up once or twice throughout the day, but its easy peasy and works for me'
I have had two large heated propagators for a few years and as yet they haven't been used. I just find it easier to place ( and move if need be) water bottle seed trays in and around my house.
