Rainwater pipe greenhouse

Just want to ask advise on gutters of greenhouse elite .

Want to do pipe from greenhouse gutters to water but not to sure what connections for the  gutters I know I need 40mm pipe but how would Make the connection to gutters if pipe is 40mm and gutters are 40mm , the way elite do it by putting pipe inside gutters leading to a angle pipe but what  size pipe would you recommend to put inside gutters and then make connections .

Regards Jason

My grandad made a makeshift one, probably around 8 years ago now and it's still going! He cut the bottom of a bleach bottle off, attached that to the end of a gutter like a funnel, and then attached a piece of hose pipe into the water butt below. It doesn't look "nirnal" I guess but it was virtually free and has worked great. I'll ask him about it in more detail and try and go over there and take a photo!

  • Many  thanks

  • Looking at elite website they seem to put another pipe inside gutters that leads to a bend so may be I need 32 mm pipe as the gutters are 40 mm , what do you think .

  • That should work Jason.  Use silicone sealant to fill any gap between the 32mm and 40mm pipe.  You could hold everything temporarily in place using duct tape etc while the sealant sets and then remove it - silicone sealant is very strong once set.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Cheers bob going to get the pipe and connections been putting it of for  a while as was not to sure .
