Pruning

B3B3 Posts: 27,505

Would it be better to leave pruning roses and racers for a bit longer or can I do it now?

Also, what about grasses?

I'm in London.

think you'd be ok pruning roses and grasses now, in London. Basically, if you've time now, and you're likely to be busier later, do it now. A few weeks won't make a lot of difference.

,Mature Japanese Acer planted in the ground. I just want to trim it a bit at the sides as it's getting a bit wide.

You can prune roses any time from now if the weather isn't too frosty and frozen, especially if you live in the south.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Prune Japanese maples in the winter when dormant, not too much at once. Trim to keep in shape.
