Grayish Blemish Potatoes
I recently purchased a bag of Estima potatoes from a super market, they looked very clean with no marks or blemishes on them but soon as they have been peeled you find grayish marks on them which go fairly deep you have cut them out before cooking because they look unsightly if you didn't,when they have been cooked they often turned black what is causing this,I have used other varieties without any problems.
P S sometimes you often have to cut away at least a third of the potatoes, also I have had it happen before with some other main crop potatoes.
Regards Peter.

I find exactly the same with Maris Piper and other maincrop spuds from supermarkets. Almost every week for years I've found this. No sign on the skin, but underneath a grey bruise that takes some cutting out but doesn't appear to be rotten in any way
I'm told that's it's down to poor storage conditions or too long in storage between farm and shelf
