New to Gardening...no imagination
Hi Everyone,
We've recently moved from a flat into a bungalow and have gained a back garden, However we're stuck with what to do we have slabs then a large grassy downward slope. It can't be dug out as next door done this and caused subsidence and it cannot be raised as we would be encroaching on our other neighbour.
Any help really appreciated
Derek

If it was mine I would deck it level with the top
Hi can't deck it as that would leave about 2 foot of fence at the back and we have a dog that could jump over into the other gardens
My word - that is a steep slope. What have other neighbours done along the back that works?
How about mixed evergreen shrubs?
Forestedge the other gardens around me have just put trees in and kind of forgot about the slope. Doghouse Riley thanks for the advice its looking like it will have to be something along the lines you suggested thanks you both for taking the time to write
Good luck Derek.
I can't see much else you could do really - forget any grass and make it into a little copse.
I think I would put winding steps down from the right hand side to the bottom fence. Then where the grass starts to slope, dig straight down and put a retaining wall. Flatten the ground at the bottom and have a sunken secret garden down there
turn it into a wildflower meadow. native primroses and cowslips will look wonderful on this bank, plant some snakehead fritillary bulbs too, then you'll get a lovely spring flowering meadow.
