hi neil i get my membrane from groundcoversolutions.co.uk, id recommend them.

  • Hi Neil

We have used woven Polypropylene in the past but we found that after a while the plastic degraded and broke down. Also, no matter how much we paid for it, when we held it up to the light, we still saw light coming through... which in all honestly defeats the object of having it in the first place lol :)

We have now started using a woven weed control fabric from a company we found online called Allplas, I think they are a distributor but the price was very competitive, given how good a product it turned out to be. I actually spoke to one of the owners there (Steve from memory) who explained the material in good detail. It's Polyethylene with 'carbon black' in the polymer which is what makes it completely UV Stable.

When held up to the light, we don't get any coming through. We have not had to cover with bark or mulch and it has stood the test of time. We've been using it now for all of our projects (landscape gardeners...) for about 3 years.

Highly recommend Allplas, never had a problem dealing with them.

Link to the product is here: http://www.allplas.co.uk/acatalog/Best-Seller-50mtr-x-2mtr-Rolll-402.html#SID=80

Hope that's of use to you.

    Kind Regards,
    Johnathan
