I think you have hit the nail on the head Bob, they are dirt cheap, but totally unreliable. Having said that, when they do flower WOW, they look wonderful. I don't have any pictures of my anemone Blanda, but do have some of the de Caen and am very pleased with how they looked. I planted roughly 20 corms in each pot, but roughly only 2 or 3 flowered at one time.
I am pleased to know that nut. I bought just two plants in Spring last year, they had lovely little white flowers, quite pretty, so I bought and sowed some corms in the Autumn and I am looking forward to seeing them in flower soon.

blanda are much more reliable, they self seed and multiply

I love them to bits which is why I keep buying them and take the losses! Not tried blanda very often nut, so might give those a go this year.
