Identify the droppings
firstly I apologise for the poor picture as I took it in the dark.
I keep finding these little dollops of droppings around my front and back gardens (the picture was taken next to my shed).
I haven't seen a hedgehog yet but I have been putting out dog food and hedgehog food and it is getting eaten in the early hours, however I have seen rats.
I'd like to make sure what I am feeding is a hedgehog, I live in the countryside so rats are very common when the farmers fields around us have been cut. But with me not ever seeing a hedgehog i only have the droppings to go by.
Can anyone help identify them?

Had a quick search online as I've never seen that either, would love a hedgehog in my garden! The following link is a page I found on identifying different wildlife droppings, interesting looking at the different animals, really. Well, interesting as far as investigating poo gets

Looks like rat poo to me. Not hedgehog.

Certainly not hedgehog poo, which is sort of long and cigar shaped, so from the above comments I would suggest it is rat poo too - such a disappointment for you.
Well spotted Mr J ... worth investigating!

Ahh that would seem plausible as I keep my rabbit in there over winter, I'll get it checked out.
Such a shame as the other half bought a hedgehog house due to the droppings in the front garden, should have investigated first!
Thanks everyone! ?
