Hi everyone, my mum bought me a hawthorn tree for my birthday which is being delivered tomorrow. So excited! I've dug in horticultural grit and farmyard manure, is there anything else I need to do before I get it planted? Can I under plant at the same time?

Just a thought .....
If you are growing that close to a fence then you might be better with a "lollipop" shaped tree.
Viburnum opulus is lovely but will be wider than you might want .... could end up looking squashed up against the fence.
