Fish pond advice please -

I have a fairly large garden pond with six carp (grass/koi) inhabiting it. I have noticed that the water is beautifully clear at the moment so I can see the fish in their tobid state in the bottom. I can also see a fair amount of leaves/debris in the bottom (despite my efforts to prevent and remove Autumn leaf fall) and wondered when the best time to remove this will be. I have fishing nets, a pond-vac and rubber gloves! I am tempted to do this soon before the organic matter decays further but concerned that I will spook the fish. Hope someone can advise please...

    Thank you everyone.

We were having some house renovations done at peak leaf-fall time so I wasn't as vigilant as usual. I am pleased that the fish are still there and the pond is clear. Hope it's not too clear though as I have seen a Heron a few times last year! We 'inherited' the pond with the house so we didn't know there even were fish initially - a pleasant surprise.

Will try the Koi forum - thanks Doghouse R. I remember some of your posts from last year and they gave me a nudge to sort the filters out.

If the pond is very clear I would put a net of some sort over it.  If there's a heron in the area he will certainly be able to see lunch if you can.
