Can I plant my apple tree now?
in Fruit & veg
I currently have an apple tree in a pot, can I move it from the pot and into the ground now or is it risky to the little tree?
I'm desperate to get out into the garden and am looking for jobs to do!
Thanks

I'm no expert on this subject, but would say "yes" as long as the ground is workable (not frozen or waterlogged). This will give plenty of time for the roots to get going before summer and all that hot dry weather we're going to get this year! (I hope
)
I would agree with Marygold.
As above, so long as your soil is not frozen or waterlogged it'll be fine.
Don't forget to stake it (assuming your growing it as a tree) and give it a water to settle the soil around the roots.
If hard frost is predicted, I'd wait for a warmer spell

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
Many thanks indeed everyone
Very helpful, thank you
It is the perfect time to plant apple trees. Work in manure as you plant.
Many thanks
