Im sure 2016 I seen an episode of gardeners world, and there was an episode where Monty was talking about a moss native too New Zealand I'm positive was called something like " sheeps wool" or " lambs wool" at the time I found it on google but didn't purchase seeds and now I can't remember the name/type of moss..... does this ring any bells with anyone?? ........ ( fingers crossed)

Do you think it was a real moss or one of the many plants that are called 'Something Moss'
true moss doesn't grow from seed, it has spores and wouldn't grow as you'd sow a packet of seeds.

Was it by any chance the Vegetable Sheep, Raoulia australis, or a related species? This isn't a moss, it is an alpine plant adapted to life at high altitudes and, unless you live in the Highlands of Scotland, I would think you would have little chance of getting it to thrive in your garden. Most of these things need very specific conditions and would turn up their toes at a mild wet winter in what would seem to us to be a more hospitable place!
Thank you both for very quick replys.
Buttercpdays thank you very much, vegetable sheep that's what I was looking for. My idea was to try cover a large slope/rubble and soil heap at the back of my allotment but think I will need to look at a more easier growing alpine plant to cover it, ........ back to google searches it is the.
thank you
Sorry...
He was too cute.

If your bank gets a reasonable amount of sun, then Snow in Summer, (Cerastium tomentosum) may be the plant for you. Silvery leaves (greener in shade), pretty starry white flowers all summer. Grows fast, not fussy about soil , needs no attention except defining its boundaries. Or you could try the New Zealand Burr, which has pretty silvery leaves and interesting coppery orange bobbles - the burrs - in summer.
If the bank is shadier and a little moister the Mossy Saxifrages are worth a look. Make green mossy cushions quite quickly, with a choice of flower colour this time, come in white , pink and red.
All three are evergreen/silver
I love your sheep! I want to make one (and I don't even like cauliflower).
I was looking up vegetable sheep you see, with a view to getting educated...and there he was.
Well it would be rude to ignore him
