Problem Trees

a year ago we moved into our house... after talking to one of our neighbors they told us the property had a larger grassy area. But the previous owner let it go and then the house was vacant for a couple years... there are now small trees were there use to be grass... what's the best way to remove them so I can get it back to how it use to be. The trees are anywhere from 10-20 feet and only a couple inches thick..

We cleared an area like this here, garden fork and a strong back!
I wanna keep the big trees... just wanna get rid of the ones that not as thick as a can of pop
