Thanks guys. Yes Lilyp, it's always promising to see some spring flowers lifting their heads. I notice the Nigella seedlings are still fighting for world domination, but the little purple Polyanthus is struggling under the rose.
I agree Joyce. Sometimes I feel guilty that they are just left in the garden with little or no help from me, but they don't seem to mind. I might suggest to the family that they could plant jonquils on my grave and they'll still come up every spring.
Lovely Pat. They really made me smile. I always think Spring flowers are so full of promise. I once told my OH that I wanted Spring flowers at my funeral. He looked at me sideways and said "What? This Spring?" It was March at the time...cheeky b*gg*r!
Chicky I thought exactly the same thing about the nigella seedlings...it could be worse!
Logan your roses are beautiful as always. The smell must be great.
Thanks for the lovely pics everyone. They keep me going when I despair of my wilderness.
Thanks for your kind and cheerful comments. I think the flowers have made a mistake though, there was snowfall in Canberra and half way down to us today, with more predicted tomorrow and that's without the extra thrill of alpine gale force winds (again or should I say still). Luckily, we are trapped inside because of the lurgy, so we can watch from the windows.

I think a world dominated by nigella seedlings might be a welcome improvement
Lovely signs of spring - I'll be telling Chicklet to watch out for the daffodils
Uh, oh. What have I started Chicky? Any greenery around her isn't lawn, it's Nigella seedlings.
Pat - there is something really special about Spring flowers, and I am particularly fond of Daffodils (not just because I am Welsh!).

I thought you might like to see the Nigella seedlings I was referring to earlier.
in this last spot, there WERE some beautiful Viola septremtrionalis growing. Not sure if they'll emerge this year.
