Thanks VS - good spot of the geum - it's totally tangerine brightening up the corner - I'm sure it's been flowering non stop all year and is loving it up there.
That looks lovely, James. We obviously have different ideas of what looks a mess... if it's not full of brambles, nettles or dandelions, it's not a mess in my book...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Its just the patio areas really just pulling the tubs apart ready for the Dahlias and in a couple of weeks taking out the later flowering daffs after they have finished sending the goodness back down the leaves to the bulbs.
Here is a picture from a week ago just showing the hostas and other Perennials working through the spent daffs
James love your hostas. Can I ask how you manage to keep the slugs at bay as I have avoided them for years due to them just getting eaten as fast as I can plant them but this year I am trying again.
To see a world in a grain of sand and heaven in a wild flower Hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour.
Not sure really is the answer I use the slug pellets in all my boarders and slug nematodes around April time also in the picture down the left and right just off shot in the pic above but added another one below have gravel either side of this bed, weather that helps in stopping movement not sure but guessing they must not like Sharpe surface. Also we do get lots of birds in the garden as well Blackbirds and Thrushes to name a few that like eating slugs and snails.

Victoria sponge, I freeze them and put them in a mixed fruit compote.
Oh, good idea. I was thinking jam. A lady on my allotment suggested to make gooseberry and orange jam, if I ever get enough berries that is!
