Look up!

This week some of the planets are visible with the naked eye. Noteably, Venus is visible as a bright 'star' in the south-west below and to the right of the crescent moon RIGHT NOW.

The sunset in the Winter's sky is quite beautiful also.

Picture from my patio (on it's way - tech issue!) k you can't really see Venus clearly but it is there.

There are some awesome images on 'net. The colours in the sky this evening were quite magical - didn't have time to grab the decent camera.

Note to self:  have camera charged and handy at all times! Also must find the gadget I have to transfer pics from my camera to the IPad... think I put it somewhere safe during the kitchen refurb. (that doesn't bode well with my track record for tidying things away and forgetting where - eek!)

  • Yes I saw them yesterday and the evening before as well. I do like to see Venus, so bright and lovely. Here, the moon is'nt visible for long at the moment.

Ment to say, well caught on the camera, lovely pic AuntyRach.

  • We've been super lucky and had really good clear views of Venus for the last two nights! Apparently Jupiter is also visible just as dawn breaks too.  Though I've not been out that early to have a squizz!

Lovely clear skies last night.  No street lights.  No clouds.   OH has got all enthusiastic and started identifying clusters and nebula and all sorts with an app on his PC.   He'll be fixing up Possum's old telescope next.

I've just been out and taken a couple of pix as it's a good, clear night.  They're a bit blurry, sorry. I can't remember how to adjust the shutterspeed  image

Moon top left, Venus bottom right. It's pretty much how I can see it from the back door

    Awesome Fairy!

Seen it again tonight - the light on Venus is so bright - it looks like an LED light!

I've just been for another look as it's really dark now, and I can see another star between them so I hope the close up I did  is Venus and not the other one!  image

I might try and get another one to make sure image
