Well of course my garden would not be complete if I did not plant Tulips and Daffodils at this time of the year. Before you all jump on the wheelbarrow and wonder what the heck? well I never usually get round to it until the Christmas period. I have been to busy working. I will also let you know,  to all of you that think they will fail, I will post photos this time. They have never failed, one or two die off but 95% will come through!

most are very forgiving I find. Snowdrops and fritillaries less so but narcissi, crocus and tulips very willing

I have found daffodils cope with being forgotten about til your suddenly wonder why you only have half the display popping up that you planned and suddenly realise that the rest are still bagged up in the shed (February image ).

    What - only February, Clari....image

Daffs and crocus are great - they tolerate a lot, as nut says. Tulips are better planted later anyway if Autumns are warm where you live. We can plant them quite early here.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I hope iris reticulata are forgiving too.  Found 4 packs of 15 blue ones on sale for just under 2€ the other day.  Been far too cold and foggy to go outside and plant them but should be fine tomorrow.

I promised that I would put some pics of the daffs and tulips that I planted 2nd week of January! For this, you must have new soil/compost though as they need a bit of a boost. They are later than those have I have in the ground but the advantage is that as the others are going over, I have these just out. I am expecting the tulips to be out this week if the lovely nice weather continues.
