Hi Everyone

I've recently taken over an allotment and am trying to find out what tree this is and what'simage growing at its base?image

Thanks ☺

  • Looks like a japanese acer to me, judging by the bark, buds and growth habit.  Can't help with the thing at the base but it does look like it had flowering stems, so would leave in place for now.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

I'd wait until there's some leaves on the tree and what ever is under neath is growing.image

    Hello Moslgo

goodie for getting an allotment, not sure if the bit at the bottom of the tree is a sucker from the tree if you see any plot neighbours they may be able to help with the tree, I am not sure

Does your allotment have in the rules only fruit trees to be planted? or are you allowed anything

Looks more like a weedy willow to me. Goat Willow or similar.
