Conservatory Yucca

Yucca in my conservatory has grown to the ceiling and nowhere else for it to go. If I cut off the main trunk to below where the four main branches come out, will it re-grow again from below the cut? And if OK to do that, what's the best way of cutting the main trunk without damaging it too much. Also, the current trunk is sealed at the top with something - what is that, and can it be purchased to re-seal it. I did think about using candle wax!!

It should sprout new shoots, Tim. Also cut the removed stem into 6-8" long sections and leave them for a few days so the ends callous over. If you then plant those in gritty compost (make sure you plant then the right way up!) those should root after a few weeks and then spout leaves after a few more. I've never bothered to seal the cuts when I've cut them down in the past.
