Kalettes ????

Hi all

just back from the lottie earlier and speaking to one of my neighbours who had been shopping

Now I know I grow lots of kale and also sprouts so when I was told that kallettes are a cross between kale and sprouts I thought ask the question

So members out there please feedback"........have you grown this yet? And if so what was your result/reward

Happy gardening as always

Brukale are a cross between kale and sprouts. You get little fluffy sprouts instead of tight buttons. Some supermarkets market them as flower sprouts.

They call then kalettes in america (registered brand name)

I had the seed from   D T Brown.  they are not as sulphury as brussels.  We liked them.

Browns appear to be calling them kalettes now.

Kalette is a horrible word.   I bought them in Belgium last winter as Flower Sprouts and we loved them.  I hate sprouts but love cabbage and kale in nearly all their other forms.   I have bought seeds to grow my own but have to wait till we get our new veggie plot sorted.

  • Sounds like a type of slip-on clog!  I had my first real frosted sprouts the other night - superb flavour and sweetness to them.  There's so much goodness to be had from the veg plot.  I admire anyone who makes an allotment work well.
