Identification

 I came across this shrub today and cannot think for the life of me what it is called so I thought I would ask the experts ????

  • I have just found it. Its a daphne odora maejima

    It's a Euonymus fortuneii cultivar.

    they don't look like daphne stems or leaves to me. They look like euonymus, though I might be wrong with the fortuneii, could be a E. japonicus

    Maejima has its variegation at the edge as does aureomarginata, this has it as a splurge down the middle

    An in focus look at one of the berries would tell for sure but they look like spindle berries to me

    Could it be one of the azaleas ?

    I have a varigated one, it's never flowered and looks about that size?

    I agree, it's euonymous, it even has a couple of berries in that striking pink. Daphne shouldn't be in flower yet and I haven't seen any with variegation like that, either. It looks like it needs some TLC.

    That's not a Daphne for me.   I agree with others - Euonymous fortunei, which variety I'm not sure, perhaps one called 'Sunspot'.?   E. Japonicus is less hardy and rarely bears fruit.  I can see some typically pink fruits on this one and it has that sprawly semi climbing habit associated with these...
