Privet hedge leaves going yellow in winter.

  • Hi all,
I have an old privet hedge, apparently planted in the 1950's when the house was built.
Something is eating it. Looks like the edges of the leaves are chewed. Circular nibbled. The damaged leaves are yellowed and dropping. This has been going on for a couple of years and I am quite concerned. Research so far suggests a weevil beetle of some kind.
I have spent a lot of time tending the hedge as I have grown 4 topiary snails on it. Really hoping for some helpful tips to prevent further damage.
    Thanks all.
