Sambucus black lace

I have a new Sambucus Black Lace plant and it is planted in alkaline soil.The problem is that the leaves have image

fallen off, there are new buds on the plant. A few weeks ago we had strong winds however the leaves survived that. Leaves were on the plant yesterday however are not today. 

Any advice would be gratefully appreciate. Sorry about the photo.

    It's deciduous, not evergreen, so the leaves are expected to fall off.  New ones will grow in spring.
