Vine weevils in winter
I've been moving my potted patio plants under cover for the winter and have found vine weevil grubs or something similar in the pots of one or two of those that have died.
I have vine weevil killer, but at this time of year when I assume the weevils are dormant and not eating will it be effective? I'm reluctant to drown the suckers in the stuff and make the compost too wet going into winter when I normally try to keep the plants on the dry side.
I get the feeling it's a case of kill or cure.
Anyone got any suggestions?

As long as your pots don't freeze I'd apply the vine weevil killer now, tomorrow, whilst the weather warms and let them drain before it starts to go downhill again. We may have a week of milder temps before going cold again.
Nematodes to be used outside can be treated March to November Lordswood and inside they can be used all the year round. We had hundreds last year. The soil has to be 5degrees or above (40F). A minor problem should be kept at bay with these directions...Hope it helps although others may be along with their help ?
Sorry Dave, you jumped in there whilst I was typing ?. We used them around end of November last year due to the amount we had when digging over and our ground was a bit warmer being in France but it did work I'm glad to say as everywhere we went in the garden, we had them...?
