Leaf mulch in a bog garden

We are making a small bog garden approx. 1 metre across by 20 inches deep. We will be making holes in some left over pond liner, then adding a layer of gravel as recommended.   Is it then o.k. to fill the hole with a mix of garden soil, grit and leaf mould?

    Sounds good to me.

  • Yes, it sounds good to me too fidgetbones. The idea is to keep the earth in the bog garden slightly moist/damp but not water logged, therefore it needs a good drainage system. I wasn't sure if the leaf mould would clog up the earth or help with the draining.

It will hold water where it is needed. Puncturing the liner lets excess water out.
