Hydrangea with Purple Leaves - Help!

Hi,

First post so please be gentle!

I have a small hydrangea in my garden and it is looking rather poorly and the leaves have become changed to a purple colour.

The plant has sentimental value and I would very much like to see it flourish.

Can anyone please advise on a treatment and course of action?

Many Thanks for your help in advance.

Al.

It's seasonal behaviour.  The leaves change colour and then drop for winter.

    New leaves next spring.

  • Panic not! image   The leaves are changing colour for the autumn - then they'll fall off.  Leave it alone and don't prune it.  Leave any dead flower heads on until the spring when the new leaf buds begin to swell, then cut the faded flower heads off to the first set of healthy looking buds.

    It'll all be fine.
