Some of my favorite are sansevieria trifasciata A.K.A. mother in law's tongue (it gives out oxygen at night so good for bedrooms)
Dracaena reflexa A.K.A. song of India plant
Peace lily And for vine like plants Monstera Adansonii A.K.A. Swiss cheese plant
Various philodendrons And my very very favourite Epipremnum aureum A.K.A. money plant........
This is indestru ctible........can grow in both, a bottle of water or a pot of soil....... Absorbs formaldehyde and other harmful toxins from air....... Looks great.......
*all these pictures are taken from internet....... They are not mine.
I know that they are common enough, but I love my Schlumbergera (Christmas Cacti).
There is an extraordinary range of beautiful colours and flower shapes - some of the more unusual named cultivars are well worth hunting down from specialist nurseries.
You're sure to find plenty of inspiration for unusual house plants on this website. Their plants are rather pricey, but they offer good advice and information, so worth a look.
Another of my favourite plants, also common, but easy to grow and with attractive foliage is Saxifraga stolonifera (Strawberry Saxifrage).
Senecio rowleyanus is another good trailing houseplant.

They grow to several metres, so you will need to wind them around a trellis and perhaps cut back some of the growth.
