  • Thank you Obeli and Valerie .... admittedly it will stop me having to look for drought surviving plants. The area below the hedge was very dry. I had a few hebes there. The damming thing was that we had ivy growing up our fence and used to cut it so it would not damage the hedge. Well life goes on and this time next year I may wonder why I was so upset!!

  • The trees are still growing, so it will make little or no difference to the soil.

    They are only growing on one side now and at a reduced height so they will take far fewer resources which means Poppy can add loads of goodness to her soil and grow something interesting.
