I have to agree with your thoughts on the winner scroggin. A lot of photographic competitions seem to be won by images I wouldn't want in my house. A bit like the Turner Prize!
Thanks for this link. Some stunning photos but I wouldn't want the winner on my wall either. You'd get bored after just a few minutes. I like images with layers of interest or a particular connection so I love the rainbow at Wast Water but then I love the place too so am biased. The "classic" scene of Scottish coast is fabulous and the Young photographer's pic is clever and interesting too.
Those flats in Glasgow look drunk and are amusing but the picture speaks of so much more and I love those zig zag groins and the shifting sands of Lancashire. In fact the only one I don't like is the winner.
Clearly a Philistine.
