Advice please

hi everyone, some of you may have read my earlier messages and know that I have started growing things from seeds and cuttings as I now have a small growhouse ( unseated). I now have here's, pier is, euonymus and a couple of roses - all are still very small but appear to have taken. My question is - should I leave them in the growhouse over winter? Thanks

If things are small, I leave them under the protection of the cold frame until the spring.  Nothing worse than going out on a cold winter's day and seeing your baby flat to the mud!

When it starts pinging into growth in the cold frame in spring and all frost has passed (here about May'ish) then I'd put the treasured items out to fend for themselves but keep an eye on them in prolonged dry spells and water with butt water as needed.

    Others may feel differently.

    I would agree with that.

  • Hi, many thanks for this but isn't a cold frame different to a growhouse as a cold frame sits directly on the ground / earth whereas my growhouse is on legs and stands on the patio therefore a little more open? Does that make a difference or not?

Is that why you have called yourself "Standen1"  image
