Moving perennials

We are based in the London suburbs so relatively mild so far. Is it too late to move a Rudbeckia Herbstonne and an Aster?

Ground isn't frozen yet but they are not quite dormant so I'll postpone for now.

I'd do it now then cut back after moving. Cutting back encourages root growth and you're unlikely to see freezing temps in London for a while yet.

That appeals to the impatient me.  I'd prefer to get it done now, as that will literally mean no replanting to do next Spring, as we have already moved everything else.
