Dahlia's in pots?

can i grow dahlia's in pots? Lots of beautiful ones i would like to grow. Not keen on digging them up every year, would they be happy in pots and make it through the winter, i can replenish compost and feed etc?

Yes, it is also easier to overwinter, you just stop watering and put them somewhere frost free to dry off. You will need big pots.
Thanks fidgetbones, when you say big pots, what do you consider big? would you suggest one per pot, or maybe a small version and a tall version in same pot?
I use cheap buckets from DIY shops and cut holes in the bottom. I then hide the pots amongst foliage, so you don't know they are there.
I still plant most of mine out though.

Thats a good idea, thank you
aym, don't keep them warm over winter, or they will start growing again. Somewhere cool, but frost free.

I put my tubers upside down into empty hanging baskets with some scrunched up newspaper and hang them from nails banged into the joists.
Frost free and mice (etc) can't get to them
