Florists pot Chrysanthemums

BiljeBilje Posts: 811

I'm talking about the pot mums you buy in the Autumn from garden centres etc. I bought four large ones reduced yippee, from a GC in September Potted them on and they are have done really well outdoors here in the NE they're just going over now.

i don't want to compost them if I can do anything else with them and get some flowers next year, not necessarily aS container plants I'm happy to have them in borders. Thanks

    Quick responses ..thank you.

Flumpy that's lovely..how do you care for it now, not sure where you live. Do you cut it back?, how do you overwinter it. I have a small unheated greenhouse but the staging if already full of plants overwintering.

Tetley I fear it's too late to plant now as you said.

Mine just dies off in winter and starts growing again from Spring, I never cover it, I just top up the compost once it's died off and I get this result every year image

Thanks Flumpy...I saw you live in Lancashire so I don't suppose our weather is hugely different. I've got nothing to loose have I ?. I'll enjoy them while they last and then cut them back and put them on their side behind the greenhouse and see what happens.

Yes Born in Bury but we would love to either live in the country or coast, I have relatives in Scarborough where the air is fresher than here image

Just an update. The plants werent cut back in the winter just left in a corner of the garden. They came back into growth and I tidied them up. They are growing well and im feeding them. Hopefully they will flower in the Autumn. Thanks for sharing experiences and  for all the helpful advice.
