Buxus drying out

Hi, Last year I bought a buxus ball for our front garden which was nice and green over the summer but it has started drying out at the bottom, see image. I don't think it's due to lack of water and in fact the top of the shrub looks very healthy with berries developing. Has anyone got any tips? Many thanks, Johan
