Viburnum Tinus ' Gwenllian'

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me and advise?

My outdoor viburnum's leaves discoloured and dried up, they started to  fall off during late summer, when I scrapped the bark still green so still alive but without leaves, looks really strange as evergreen. Was it an air born virus or something similar, not sure as never happened before, should I cut it back now or leave alone and hopefully next spring leaves will grow back.

Would really like to know what it was as don't want it to happen again.

Any help much appreciated,

Thanks.

Has it got any live looking buds?

The 'scrape it and see if it's green' thing is oft quoted but not entirely true. Sometimes it means it hasn't been dead long. I would have serious concerns re this plant.

Have you a photo so we can see what it looks like?

Ann - the same thing happened to one of my Viburnums. I cut it back to the ground and it has regrown without any problems.
