My wife thought she had lost a poppy brooch last week when we were away on holiday. We were packing up to come back home, it was a beautiful sunny morning. She pulled the curtains open and, out of the corner of her eye, saw something sparkle from under a low coffee table. It was the brooch. If it had been a bit less sunny, or she had stood in a slightly different position, it wouldn't have been found.
OH's boss had a beautiful and very expensive watch her husband had bought her - it had a sapphire set in the winder. Foolishly she wore it to work one day and during the morning discovered that the winder was missing - she asked the staff to keep their eyes open for it, hoping it had fallen onto the shop counter or similar but no one saw it.
Then later in the afternoon OH was sweeping the carpark outside the shop and saw a glint!
She's a very lucky woman
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
That carrot needs a pair of stick on googly eyes to transform it into a curious creature wearing an expensive collar
You were very lucky to find your pendant after 18 months in the garden aym, it's a beautiful piece. Fate must have been smiling on you on that day, along with the sunshine
I don't wear any jewellery these days, my main problem is loose specs which can fall off if I bend over too far. No amount of sunshine helps to spot them and I end up rooted to the spot (for fear of stepping on them), calling out for help to retrieve them from the border
My Mum lost her wedding ring when she was gardening. She found it again exactly a year later when weeding the same patch. Dad had almost saved up enough to buy her another by then. I think they had a posh meal out instead
Gardening on the edge of Exmoor, in Devon

I lost my wedding ring nearly 30 years ago when gardening. Two years later my daughter found it on the gravel garden path. We were going to move house, so just in time!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

On a positive note, the Royal British Legion are a few quid better off because she had already bought a replacement. Every cloud.....
