Tree ferns are Ok where they grow well, Verdun can probably grow them. Here it would be too dry and too cold in winter. So, irrigation system in summer and wrap up in winter? Not for me. Plants always look best where they're suited.
The growing of plants unsuited to the conditions is the cause of many gardening problems. GCs don't help. Our locals sell azaleas and Rhodos. There's no acid soil for miles round here. How are new gardeners expected to know that?
