hazel, unfortunately it'll roll on for at least the next 4 years.

If Clinton wins, Trump will bang on about rigging and elites etc etc. He's certainly not one to give in gracefully.

If Trump wins, god help us all.

aym, I'm with you on " salted caramel" I've enjoyed caramel for over 50 years and , I have to say, have never once thought " this is nice, but if only it was salty"

Ditto anything added to coffee that isn't milk or sugar.

marshmallows??? peach syrup??? When does the next bandwagon ride by?

aym280 "What an oxymoron! Salted Caramel (is that supposed to be sweet?)."

That is no more an oxymoron than "Sweet and sour". By the way, one of the specialities of Brittany where I live is "caramel au beurre salé" (salted butter caramel).image

In the West of France, "normal butter" is of course salted; we leave the weird, tasteless unsalted butter to the Parisians.image

  • Have you not come across Salted caramel as a flavour? imageimage   Delicious - as is dark chocolate with seasalt - lots of it about.    Although I prefer my coffee plain.

Absolutely agree Hosta and Fidget - hold onto your hats - it's going to be a rocky few years for the world ...

The thing about Trump and Putin is .......... Putin is a very clever chap and a good judge of character - he is also a pragmatist.  Russia has had to deal with Islamic threats within its own borders and in its sphere of influence and they've had to go in hard ... that's what they're doing now ... they cannot allow instability on their southern borders and they will put Russian needs above all others.  Russian leaders do not feel a responsibility for the rest of the world.

Putin understands that Trump is a vain and self-obsessed bully and he knows that he will be able to impress him - Trump as USA president standing in the vast and intimidating Red Square watching their military displays (which are hugely impressive) will suck up to Putin and become his puppet without even realising that's what's happening.

Basically, NATO and the West should have allied ourselves with Russia against the Mujahideen in the eighties, rather than arm them ... then we wouldn't be in this mess now.

    Not until recent years.

I've not added salt to anything since 1975. Maybe it's just part of my being weird.

  • Salted caramel coffee is too sweet for me image  I like my coffee with a tang of bitterness.

Lot of good sense there Dove. I think we have said it before, but if you and I ruled the world, everything would be fine. You up for it?

Love chilli and bitter dark chocolate.

My coffee must be very strong, like my women.image
