    Yikes it has taken me ages just to shella cup full! Some cake recipes say Hazelnuts needs blanching? Is that right?

  • Depends on your choice - the brown skin usually flakes off if you roast them.  That's easier than blanching in hot water.

  • I have some Hazel near me and I've been eating them green and now ripened brown and they are delicious. Green were eaten raw with salad, rather mild tasting, picked a load as they were ripening a few weeks ago with the intention of eating them at Christmas. Thought I'd do a bit of taste testing for quality control purposes and I've eaten them all!!

  • I love fresh green hazel nuts and I'm very jealous.  You're lucky to have beaten the squirrels to them image
