Moving Eucomis

I have some mature Eucomis Sparkling Burgundy, which have outgrown a large pot, and which we want to put in the ground. I'd like to do this now, before the frosts arrive, but read it's better to leave as much foliage as possible to die down, so the bulbs have more energy for next year.
They are huge plants, so I'm sure they'd be OK if we cut off the foliage, dug them up, and replanted now. What do you think?

The leaves should be removed as they die rather than cutting them off and if planting in the garden think about planting them 15 cm deep and cover the crowns after the leaves have died down with a 10cm layer of mulch.
Thanks. Just waiting for the fog (!) to lift and then I'll move them.
Why bother to cut the foliage off? Leave it and replant in the garden in Spring.
