using a propagator
Good morning, I have bought a propagater to try to grow my own plants from cuttings,however, a few of them have died off with a mould on the stem.
now, as the propagater had no instructions I'm not sure whether I should have vents open or closed, I read that the cuttings need plenty of air flow so have had them open but then I read again today that they must be closed.
This is not an electrical propagater, it's up in my loft room under the window for light, and it's gets nice and warm up there in the evenings, there is plenty of humidity in the propagater.
I think some cuttings have taken but don't want to lose anymore.

Sounds like 'damping off'
There's too much humidity which encourages fungi and the stem of the plant goes black just above the soil and I'm afraid dies
Maybe you have too much warmth and not enough light or airflow.
Are you using a gritty compost for your cuttings?
What sort of cuttings are you trying to propagate?

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
I always leave the air vent open on mine. How damp have you been keeping the soil?
Thank you
