Problem solving

Hi all,

I am am new to this but just after some advice. A private customer of mine emailed this picture asking for advice on why her shrubs have gone like this. Is this common and what can be done?

Any advices would be great

    she certainly does and the dog is a

    pain in my side as its ruined the grass in areas. What can be done? Will the shrub just recover?
