I was wanting to keep my dahlias in the ground but I've decided I don't like where they are. I'm assuming if I'm going to move them, I may as well store them for the winter. Problem is the plants are huge now and I'm wondering if the tubers will fit back in their 3 litre starting pots next winter. I have to remember to take them out one at a time and label as I go.
The dahlia tubers I have been given are awfully pretty single yelow ones. Not in the slightest bit brash - actually, they look frightfully posh and rather jolly - don't cha know!
They are pretty Lyn. I much prefer these single more delicate looking flowers than the big blousy flower heads that are more often seen. I have sown some Bishop's Children seeds for the first time this Autumn which are a mixture of colours - and am looking forward to planting them out next Spring
Yes GD - not keen on the huge spiky ones - awfully common! . I might get some red ones with the very dark foliage. Will check online for names. I have also seen some with similar flower heads to pink Japanese Anemones.

I divide mine in Spring, when I can see the growing points for the new shoots.
