Cutting back and moving grape vine
in Fruit & veg
hello
I need to cut back and move a grape vine 100 miles by car. The vine is currently in a large pot and is about 2 meters Hight and goes about 2 meters along a house. This vine is 2 years old and currently has a few bunches of green grapes.
Would it be ok to cut it right back and move it? If so when would be the best time of year to do this??
Many thanks

Cut it down and move it while dormant. (No leaves , November, Dec, Jan)Use a few of the one year old shoots as hardwood cuttings as back up in case you lose it.
For hardwood cuttings. Use one year old wood. Cut to about a foot in length with sharp secateurs. Cut just below a node (leaf joint). Insert in gritty soil.shady position. Leave for first year, watering well. Move after a full season, after leaves have fallen off to permanent site in sunny position.
